About the book

I’ve dreamed of writing this book for years, but life has a way of throwing curveballs. When Covid hit, like so many others, my world changed. By early 2021, just as life was restarting, my husband of 16 years and I separated. It was a time of upheaval, and my focus shifted to my boys as we navigated a new chapter together.

Fast forward a few years and after a divorce and a house move, I felt ready to finally make this dream a reality. This book is a reflection of my kitchen and the meals I love to cook at home. It had to be simple, approachable, reliable and, of course, delicious. Think of it as a continuation of what I share on my social media, but with a deeper dive into the recipes that mean the most to me.

What’s inside

  1. Family Favourites

For everyday dinners, I rely on tried-and-true recipes that everyone loves and finishes with a clean plate – meals so quick to disappear that I sometimes wonder if my boys inhale them! These recipes inspired the Family Favourites chapter, packed with crowd-pleasers that my best friend Helen, all the way in New Zealand, even tested on her kids, Ella, Pippa and Max.

  2. One Pan or Pot

Like many, I’m not a fan of endless washing up. That’s why the One Pan or Pot chapter is dedicated to recipes that deliver big on taste while keeping things fuss-free. Cooking everything in a single dish allows flavours to mingle beautifully, creating meals that are both satisfying and economical.

  3. Speedy Dinners

For those busy nights when time is short, Speedy Dinners is your go-to. These recipes are quick to prepare, with most on the table in under 30 minutes – perfect for juggling work, school runs, or simply fitting a good meal into a hectic schedule.

  4. Nostalgia

My food journey wouldn’t be what it is without the influence of the people closest to me. In Nostalgia, I’ve included recipes that hold a special place in my heart. These dishes tell the story of where my love for food began and honour the people who helped ignite that passion.

  5. Sweet Treats

And finally, what’s a cookbook without desserts? I always flip straight to the sweet section when I pick up a new cookbook, and I hope you’ll do the same. Sweet Treats is a collection of comforting old favourites and a few fresh additions – all easy to make and impossible to resist.
